For this project we had the choice of making a 3D printed wearable object, but I decided to go with creating a key chain instead. To do this I used tinkercad. Tinkercad is a free online collection of software tools that help people all over the world think, create and make. One of the great tools available through tinkercad is their 3D modeling tool which I used to create my 3D animal file. In my opinion, the application is relatively easy to use for somebody that has never worked in 3D modeling before. I decided to create a butterfly because they are beautiful and delicate creatures. I was able to do this by using the pre-made basic shapes for the body/wings and used the scribble tool for the antennas/legs. The only issue I had with tinkercad was the scribble tool. The tool does not allow you to draw on the same plane where you create the 3D model. This made it difficult to connect the antennas and legs to the body of the butterfly. Unfortunately, in the final result of my project the legs were too thin when printed so they broke off. I did not mind this though because it did not affect the overall design in the end. I would say that this was one of my most favorite projects to work on because I completed it fairly with ease.
